Dance - Limited Edition of 25 Artwork

My current series, "Artibles", reflects an interest in serigraphy—screen printing—that goes back to my childhood. With stencil-based designs, it’s possible to create many different versions of an image by changing the colors—something used by the fashion industry to create fabric in various color ways. And with screen printing, it’s also possible to create beautiful blends of color, by mixing the paint as it’s applied to the print. Working digitally, I can create color blends that would be difficult or impossible to achieve using a squeegee. More than that, though, I can change not just the colors of the print, but I can also move around parts of the stencils themselves, exploring how that fundamentally alters the way the image appears. I love the swirling movement of dancers’ costumes as they twirl and whirl, and in this piece I have tried to capture that. The print is part of a limited edition of 25. The images are dye sublimated onto aluminum, a process that results in sharp, rich colors embedded in the glossy enamel-like surface of the print, really making them pop. The print comes ready-to-hang, float mounted on a bracket with a French cleat system that makes it easy to hang on the wall (the wall cleat is included).
