About The Artwork

The Diprotodont is an extinct Australian marsupial. One of the megafauna that roamed the land and became extinct possibly due to climate change. I am using it as a metaphor for the environment and the present circumstances of climate change. The Diprotodont is being reborn, emerging from the ruins of civilisation. The inscription is by John Keats: (The) poetry of the earth will never die. This work is a plea to act for the environment but acknowledges that the planet is not in danger and will continue as it has since the extinction of other species. Made from Italian statuary quality marble from Carrara. Powder-coated steel plinth included. Suitable fro placement indoors or outdoors.
