............................................................................ "I LIKE TO PLAY WITH HER, SOMETIMES I FEEL I'M TURNING INTO HER, OR DOES SHE TURNING INTO ME? ............................................................................. Wendy Pietsch was born in the Argentine Republic in 1974 with a European ancestry, specifically from the Czech Republic on her father’s side. She has an autodidact nature… “I’m a guided-learning rebel — I love self-learning because I enjoy discovering things by myself and focusing on what really interests me”. While she always felt drawn to creativity in several disciplines, she finds her calling for painting at a key stage in her life, when the need for communication and discovery of her inner truth materialized to lead her way. She chooses wood as a canvas which, combined with acrylic paint and her tools, evidence her free spirit, forging shapes that defy conventions. This way, she manages beholding her work to become a truly unique experience. “…I enjoy playing with shapes and colours; cutting, pasting, putting them in a certain way, then another, and seeing what comes up”. From this experimentation, while attempting to put a face in between all those shapes, is how the “Fantasy Girls” emerge — her peculiar women with completely expressionless faces, who are present much like that friend who just listens without judging… “Once they appeared, I couldn’t let them go, becoming the centre of my creation”. Wendy arrives in Spain with her family in May of 2014 searching for new horizons to make her work known around the world. “…I think what is captivating about my Fantasy Girls is that they don’t show their state of mind. Observing them leads you to impress your own emotions, and that is why each time you look they may convey something different…”
