by Sadhu Vicêncio "Sem Tempo"! - expression that in Portuguese means both "Timeless" and "No time" - is the name of Lauro Toledo's piece which he enthusiastically refers to, probably because he identifies himself with it. It portraits a Man sitting motionless, a man that makes this piece of art's name a mystery or a simple conclusion. A man with a big nose, crossed legs, curved back, head tumbled, arms interlaced and eyes semi-closed by laziness. A man who waits for something, a man who is fragile, tired, maybe sad. A history, a photo, a 3D shot! This is the beauty of Toledo's art. As when we yawn and identify ourselves with that "timeless" man or even with the "timeless" period where he is, we feel as tired as the fighter in the "Last Round". We also feel guilty from the hunger and scared eyes of the dog "Moon" and we seek for what the other one, "Lua Nova", is looking for. We feel like asking the old man in "The Book" our deepest inner questions. In sum, Toledo's works follow our impressions of them. They seduce us in a personal and artistic way. His art is light as resin and strong as metal, very detailed and rustic at the same time, lifeless and alive, logic and incoherent... It shows itself curved, hump in shape, slim in technique and strong in essence. It presents itself as a kid made in resin that decided to become a man being forged in metal. It shows the gesture of the artist that ends up printed in the piece in such a way that it registers all life that created him and moves him.
