About The Artwork
Location: The Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple), Amritsar, Punjab, India. Built between 1585 - 1604AD, it is the holiest place for members of the Sikh religion. It is a bustling complex and has over 10,000 visitors per day. This image captures the juxtaposition between the lone woman meditating, and the crowds of people queuing up on the walkway to pay their respects in the Darbar Sahib; which sits in the middle of the holy pool.
