Singapore 50' x 50' Epson Semi Gloss Giclee Print, 2016 Signed, titled, dated and numbered on the reverse, and mounted onto Di-bond, framed. Sheet: 119 by 119cm Inspired by Singapore's 'Nanyang Style' watercolour movement of the 1950's, the work uses traditional Malay houses as a vehicle to pair up pre western influences, contrasted against the arrival of modern commercialism. This sense of old verses new is highlighted through the modern and traditional ways of mark making. The colouring of the image is produced using watercolour onto textured paper and canvas, which is then scanned in at a very high resolution. This mark making is then placed underneath the contrasting black digitally drawn line.
