Snapshots (detail 2) Painting

I am a painter, and work predominantly in landscapes. My work is both figurative and abstract as the traditionalist in me fights with my experimental side. I mostly use oils but increasingly work with mixed media, such as spray paint, varnish, glitter and gems. I love the effect that colour and application of paint have on the emotions and like to capture the hidden personality of a scene. As human beings we are all affected by the landscape that surrounds us. I seek to elicit an emotional response to the landscapes in my work. Recently my work has been focused on the Essex landscape, capturing it's beauty, known by those who live here, missed by those who don't. In my current work I am attempting to fuse this with the common conception of all things Essex, the side that people expect to see.
