Print #1 from Edition I of 25 prints (1-25) + 2 A/P in 17"x22" size archival pigment prints image size approx 11 1/2"x19" printed on 17"x22" paper This photograph is printed on Canson Rag Photographique paper, a heavy stock with a matte finish I like to use to emphasize some graphic quality of an image. It can push it a little further in an abstract direction, while still maintaining a sense of photographic reality I was on a movie location in Port Campbell, Australia assisting in some aerial photography of the rugged coastline that features the Twelve Apostles rock formations. I would pass this pasture every day and was always struck by the random patterns assumed by herd. One of the virtues of photography is the raw materials of the image presented can be perfectly composed all by itself. Can you imagine a trainer with a bullhorn (heehee) trying to get these cows to hit their marks properly! And who could arrange them better than they arrange themselves. And then there is the one way out there who seems to know something the others don't. In the visual effects world, landscape miniatures were often created for places that were the product of someone's imagination. One of the treasured tricks used was a forced perspective set, in which the foreground sloped downward to the camera. Among other things, you get a higher horizon while keeping the camera level.
