About The Artwork

I have taken this photograph near Jodhpur, India - in a village of the great Rajasthani Thar Desert. It depicts a young woman in her traditional kitchen, dressed in a sari of the same tones as the room around her. The fireplace is low on the ground - people in many Indian households also eat on the floor, they don't use chairs and tables. With many cultures dissapearing due to the rising western style of living, I'm asking myself: how long will we still be able to witness such scenes? This picture has been chosen as one of the top 50 in this year's "CEWE Our World is Beautiful" competition. Taken with a Nikon F100 and Kodak Ektar 100 (a film known for it's fine grain and vibrant colors), the photograph is reproduced on archival Canson Rag Photographique 310g Matte Paper. It can be also printed on Canson Photoart Pro Canvas 395g (the price is the same). It comes without a frame and without a white border (but if you need the white border, just send me an email). The size is approximately 16 x 24 inches (42 x 59,4 cm).

Looking at the color works of Steve McCurry and monochrome images of Sebastiao Salgado and Fan Ho inspired me to go out and make pictures, especially on travels and mountain hikes. I love both the people-free highlands and the chaotic streets of crowded cities. Photographing weddings has also helped me to learn how to tell stories with my photographs. Some of my best images were made on film - mostly Kodak Ektar 100 and Ilford Delta 100 - while others are digital. Most prints are made on archival Canson Rag Photographique 310g Matte paper, but monochrome film pictures can also be reproduced in the darkroom with high quality Fiber Based papers. If you are also interested in culture and nature, you have come to the right place. My photographs have been featured on Photoburst.net as their Photo of the Day (19 times) and one of them has been chosen as one of the top 50 pictures in this year's "CEWE Our World is Beutiful" competition. I have also held some exhibitions, although only in my beautiful country - Slovenia.
