About The Artwork

I collect a lot of old paper ephemera for my collage work. I happened upon a stack of old aircraft magazines in an antique store, and bought most of them. Military aircraft have fascinated me since childhood, since my father was in WWII. I've used a few images in past pieces, and continued to cut out the planes with no idea in mind at the time. Over time, as I amassed more and more of these, the idea of a massive exploding ball of firepower came into focus in my mind. Then I was off to the races, finding and cutting out every aircraft I could get my hands on. The hard part was finding aircraft that were at different angles to make the 3 dimensional nature of the finished piece believable. Images had to come at you straight on, left, right, up, down, and every angle in between to be successful. Placing them into a space with depth was crucial, and finally, the addition of the shadow at the bottom to anchor the explosion was the finishing touch. Unframed on masonite, offset from wall 2" on wood runners.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I create works in collage by hand from my Dallas studio, utilizing ephemera from old magazines, books, manuals, and photos as well as documents from my late aunt's south Louisiana insurance agency. The eclectic nature of old books, brochures, images and documents that reveal the passage of time, help to inform my work. These bits and pieces that have been stuck in the dark, aging on shelves and collecting dust, are uncovered and combined, giving them new life. With them I create works that travel through decades past, present and future. This handmade, layered time travel serves as a central theme in my work. I meticulously create my art using cut and glued bits of paper to construct a new reality.
