All shown works are based on David Komander's unique painting technique. What at first glance appears to be modern landscape painting in the impressionistic style, becomes clear upon closer inspection as the result of a rather expressionist way of working. The paintbrush does not touch the canvas when painting, but the paint is applied by physical movement. The paint is thrown onto the canvas by the brush and painting becomes a performative act. In contrast to more impulsive approaches such as Jackson Pollock's painting, very precise, controlled color settings are created here, through which Komander achieves a pre-planned design, even if the final motif only arises from the creative process. The finished works often show so-called forest areas, „Waldräume“

To me, the world of images, is an explicable world. It grows before and within my eyes from inspiration, technique and my own hope, that something might happen which is entirely beyond inspiration and technique. In that I see it as a relative to the worlds of melodies, forms and rhythm. As it manifests through my hands, my brushes and my paints, it s a process of laying claim to something beyond possession. There is a certain sense of ownership through understanding in this kind of work. In the past years nature and especially the forest were a great source of inspiration for my work. On the other hand being exposed to city life I had the desire to bring "my" nature into the urban structure. Regulary I create installations in public spaces or initiate interventions with other artists (dancer, musicians, ...) - We recapture public spaces by artistic activities and pave the way for encounters of all kinds.
