Inland Painting

I am interested in the interaction of colour on a canvas. I like to use unconventional techniques of painting and experiment with different mediums to gain unusual effects and interesting textures. The process of the painting and the decisions made during it; the unplanned and accidental is what excites me. I am interested in its composition, balance, perspective, placement of the viewer etc Sometimes i focus purely on mixing colour together, however i draw a lot of my inspiration from images that i take of seascapes. My work is heavily influenced by the North Cornwall coastline where i grew up as a child and still work from. The changing and magical light, the exposure to natural and vibrant colours, the shapes of the rugged coast, the movement of water and skies change dramatically throughout the seasons creating a constant source of inspiration. A lot of my influence comes from the cornish coastline where i grew up. I enjoy translating the contrast in colours, shapes and moment between the sea, sky and land into a piece of work.
