Inspired by an Italian model and years of visiting Italy and enjoying the sagre (festivals) in various small communities. Also inspired by Picasso like abstraction (the body) while the face is using Ingres like line as the approach.

Note: For both the Greeks and the Egyptians, the snake represented eternity. Ouroboros, the Greek symbol of eternity, consisted of a snake curled into a circle or hoop, biting its own tail. The Ouroboros grew out of the belief that serpents eat themselves and are reborn from themselves in an endless cycle of destruction and creation.

Here I have turned the Ouroborus into a belt becoming a hat. Perhaps I was thinking of the Hindu psycho/sexual Kundalini healing power utilised in yoga.

Whatever the inspiration, the painting speaks of feminine beauty and the healing power of love and the erotic.
