Born in Poland and lives in London since 2003. Lucyna is an artist and art psychotherapist. She completed Fine Art degree at the University of East London where she researched the transition of painting since the invention of photography. She completed Master degree in Art Psychotherapy at Goldsmiths College, where she investigated psychodynamic theories, and how art making processes unfold the unconscious mind. Her work involves both, manual and mechanical processes and she plays with them alternatively. She emphasizes the importance of emotional expression and intuition. Her keywords are a free association, instant decisions, and a stream of consciousness: fragments of flowing emotions and thoughts. These are translated into a visual representation. She unites her automatic drawings and paintings with photographs emphasizing both, the representational and non-representational quality. She explores her ideas into large-scale paintings. Her paintings consist of layers of paint applied on canvas with repeated glazes and decisions. Her technique gives the illusion of transparency, daydreaming, and depth.
